Speaker: Mike Nelson, VP Technical and Production, Nestle

Featured keynote, Mike Nelson from Nestle will speak at the Western Reserve Safety Council Safety Awards and CEO event.
Member companies will be recognized for demonstrated safety performance through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and as well as the people and initiatives that advance safety in their organizations including Safety Employee of the Year awards.



Michael L. Nelson Jr., is the Vice President of Technical & Production with responsibility for Baking and Foods Manufacturing.  He is directly responsible for ~7500 employees across (10) manufacturing facilities - supporting ~$5.0 billion in sales revenue and indirectly responsible for Tribe Mediterranean Foods Manufacturing and Freshly Manufacturing consisting of ~200 employees across (3) manufacturing facilities supporting ~$125 million in sales revenue.  Mike also has dotted line responsibility for all functional areas supporting Baking and Foods Manufacturing, Tribe Mediterranean Foods Manufacturing and Freshly Manufacturing which includes Co-Manufacturing, Engineering, HR, Operational Finance, Quality Management, Safety, Health & Environment and Technical Applications.
 
Mike started his career with Nestlé in Solon, Ohio 28 years ago as an Industrial Engineering Co-Op.  He has relocated 12 times and held various positions across the US, including involvement with the construction and start-up of a new plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2003, and at the global headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. 
 
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering and a Master of Business Administration both from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  He also completed the Mastering Technology Enterprise program at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland and earned a strategy & innovation certificate from Case Western Reserve University.
 
Mike is a native of Cleveland and attended Benedictine High School.  He is the father of a 6 year old daughter, Kennedy Grace and has a range of hobbies that include weightlifting, hunting, traveling, most sports (with NASCAR being his favorite).
